The Metropolitan Museum of Art has recently acquired a Miwa Kyūwa water jar that was featured in our 2016 Asia Week exhibition, A Palette for Genius: Japanese Water Jars for the Tea Ceremony.
This is a beautiful, unique Hagi ware vessel dated to the 1970s with rounded corners and a half lacquer lid. The water jar is currently on display in Gallery 229, together with other wonderful ceramics.
